Process

1. Apply On-Line: (1 hour)
The on-line application will include personal information, academic history, leadership experience, past work experience and short answer responses. Upload resume and cover letter.

2. In-Person or Virtual Interview: (45 minutes)
During this interview the candidate will be asked questions about his/her personal information, academic history, leadership experience, past job experience and the short answer questions that were provided.

3. 2nd Interview: (45 minutes)
During this interview the candidate will be asked questions about his/her personal information, academic history, leadership experience, past job experience and the short answer questions that were provided.

4. Virtual Lesson: (10 minutes-Lesson)
The candidates will teach a virtual lesson to a selected committee.(Lesson Guidelines will be provided)

5. Placement Interview: (45 minutes)
The Placement Interview will be conducted by the campus leader of the school you may be placed at.

6. Cohort Membership Offer with Designated Campus:
Membership offer and designated campus information will be extended to the selected candidates. Each cohort candidate will be contacted by email and or snail mail with an official formal letter outlining the details of the membership offer.

7. Position Acceptance/Decline:
The candidate will either confirm or decline the membership offer.

8. Book Study and On-Line Lectures:
Cohort members will begin the book study and on-line lectures.

9. Summer Institute 1st day:
Candidates will report to the designated training site on the 1st day of the ATI Summer Institute.

Qualifications

Education and Training Requirements

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree (B.A. or B.S.) from four-year accredited college or university at time of assignment
  • Teacher certification is not required
  • In addition to the four-year degree,  at least one of the following must be met for Highly Qualified (HQ) status for middle and high school teachers:
    • Undergraduate major or minor in core academic area of instruction, or 18 credit hours in the core academic area of instruction
    • Graduate degree in the core academic area of instruction
    • A Texas teaching certificate in the applicable field of instruction. If a teacher holds a teaching certificate issued from a state other than Texas, he/she must inquire with the Texas State Board of Education (Educator Certification) to see what is necessary in order to be considered “Highly Qualified” in the state of Texas
    • All elementary teachers must have taken and passed one of the following TExES exams depending on the grade level that will be taught: Core Subjects EC-4, Core Subjects EC-6 or Core Subjects 4-8
  • The cohort member must complete the ATI Summer Institute training.
