Teacher preparation is essential to success in the classroom. Nothing drives academic progress as much as well-prepared and knowledgeable teachers.
The ATI experience begins with our Summer Institute, where our cohort gets its introduction to the essentials of why we teach (to create thinking people of character), principles of classroom management, lesson planning, and how to promote virtue among their students.
We partner with leaders from ResponsiveEd, the Bill of Rights Institute, Houston Baptist University, The O’Neil Center for Global Markets and Freedom, and other organizations committed to promoting knowledge, virtue and liberty through education.
Our summer institute runs for three weeks, including a week of pre-work. We hold our two weeks of on-site workshops at the University of Dallas and at Founders Classical Academy in Lewisville.
At the end of the session, the teachers also participate in another week of school-specific curricular training covering topics like:
- how to teach content that is aligned with state standards and school priorities
- discipline programs
- special education processes and strategies
- teaching methodologies
